SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It is the process of getting traffic from the natural search result on search engine. All search engines such as Google, Bing, and Yahoo have primary search results, where web pages and other content such as videos or local listings are shown and rank based on what the search engine considers most relevant to users. Payment isn’t involved, as it is with paid search ads. SEO is a technique which helps search engines find and rank your site higher than the millions of other sites in response to a search query. SEO thus helps you to get traffic from search engines. Whenever you enter a query in a search engine and hit ‘enter‘ you get a list of web results that contain that query term. Users normally tend to visit websites that are top of this list as they perceive those to be most relevant to the query. If you have ever wondered why some of these websites rank better than the others then you must know that it is because of a powerful web marketing technique called Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
I would recommend you using this but you got to know some basic information regarding it. Firstly, search engines are not humans, so there is quite a difference between how humans and search engines view web pages. Unlike us, search engines are text driven. Instead, search engines crawl the Web, looking at particular site items, mainly text, to get an idea about. So search engines perform several activities in order to deliver search results – crawling, indexing, processing, calculating relevancy, and retrieving. I would rather not go too much in the deep.
Although the basic principle of operation of all search engines is the same, the minor difference between them lead to major changes in results relevancy. For different search engines, different factors are important. There are many examples of differences between search engines. For instance, for Yahoo! and Bing, on-page keyword factors are of primary importance, while for Google links are very, very important. Also, the sites are like wine – the older, the better.
SEO are broadly classified into two categories, white hat techniques and black hat techniques. White hat techniques, generally called ethical SEO, are basically those which follow search engine rules, regulations and policies. If you suppose to do a long-term investment on your website then white hat SEO is a good practice. Black hat techniques, also called unethical SEO or spamdexing, are those which usually do not obey search engine rules and regulations. If you are looking for quick return from your website rather than long-term investment, then it is a good practice.
I would recommend you to do white hat techniques since they are according to the guidelines of the search engines and black hat techniques may result in your website being banned from a search engine.
